ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

Through our program, we aspire to provide debt-free professional development opportunities in the field of film and video communication, fostering upward financial mobility for historically underrepresented youth in the Highline School district who face substantial challenges, including individuals involved in the foster care or juvenile justice systems, those who have experienced homelessness or hunger, those at risk of dropping out of school, engaged in high-risk behaviors, and those who have experienced gun violence.

At Camera Kids Foundation, we believe that every young person has the potential to be an agent of change in their community. Our programs offer technical workforce training and equip youth with storytelling skills to drive social change. We believe that by empowering young people in this way, we can build a better future for all.

Join us in our mission to promote nonviolence and civic engagement among youth through the art of filmmaking.

Launching in June 2024, our pilot program offers debt-free worker retraining and certifications in media production, broadcasting, audiovisual engineering, drone piloting, and post-production video editing to historically under-served youth in Southwest King County. We empower adolescents with skills and credentials for brighter futures. Support us in nurturing budding filmmakers and promoting positive change. Join our journey today.

Your contribution will support us in crafting a collection of short films aimed at championing social justice and equality. These cinematic endeavors will become integral in a broad initiative to promote awareness and spark conversations about important social issues, fostering positive change within our community.

In partnership with local schools, we are offering a 9-week summer camp for youth interested in learning about filmmaking and storytelling. This camp will provide hands-on experience in all aspects of the filmmaking process, from writing and directing to editing and post-production. Our goal is to ignite a passion for filmmaking in these young individuals and equip them with the skills to tell their own stories.

Teaming up with industry professionals boasting over 25 years of experience in the film/broadcast and post-production industry in Washington State, ensures that our program remains at the forefront of technological advancements. This strategic partnership provides our students with direct exposure to state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology, thereby enhancing their readiness for the ever-evolving landscape of film and video communication.
